North Shore food tour

Having the day off together, Paul and I decided to head up to Ipswich, MA to try out 2 different restaurants that received great reviews in many travel magazines and local television chronicles. Our first stop lead us to the historic Calm Box.
Paul and I shared the fisherman's platter that was piled high with fried clams, haddock, shrimp, and scallops along with onion rings and cole slaw. There were nice red picnic tables out back under nice shade trees where we sat and ate. Our food review: In our opinion, it's more about the history and the popular review that brings people here to stand in long lines for a pile of fried seafood. We have to say that we have had better tasting fried seafood at the Lobster Pool in Rockport, MA and the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

After our somewhat disappointment with lunch at the Calm Box, we headed down the street for our favorite dessert....... ice cream! White Farms ice cream is known for their homemade ice cream and large portions and they did not disappoint! We LOVED it! The Kahlua chip and mint chip were delicious with rich delicious flavors, generous portions, and big chunks of chocolate, giving our local favorite, Crescent Ridge, a real run for their money!
All and all, it was a fun day exploring a couple of local places in Massachusetts.

  2. The Lobster Shack is where Scott proposed! Well, while we were climbing on the rocks, not standing in line for food...
